Unlike wax or sealant that sit on top of the paint and wash away, ceramic coating integrates at a molecular level — resisting water, UV rays, chemicals, bird droppings, and minor abrasion for years rather than weeks.
It depends on the package. Our Silver Pack (Gtechniq C1) lasts up to 1 year. The Gold Pack (Crystal Serum Light) lasts up to 3 years. The Platinum Pack (CSL + EXO V5) is rated for up to 5 years. Wax lasts 4–8 weeks. A quality sealant might last 6–12 months. A professional ceramic coating lasts 1–5 years and provides far superior chemical resistance and hydrophobicity. Wax sits on the paint and washes away; ceramic chemically bonds with the clear coat and can only be removed by abrasion or chemical stripping.
Paint protection film (PPF) provides physical impact protection — it stops rock chips and road debris from reaching your paint. Ceramic coating provides chemical protection: UV resistance, hydrophobicity, and contamination resistance. Many customers combine both — PPF on high-impact front panels, ceramic coating over the entire vehicle for complete protection.
We use Gtechniq professional-grade coatings across all three packages. The Silver Pack uses C1 Crystal Lacquer (1 year). The Gold Pack uses Crystal Serum Light — CSL (3 years). The Platinum Pack combines CSL as a base layer with EXO V5 top coat (5 years). Gtechniq products are formulated for professional installers and are not available in consumer retail.
Avoid water contact for the first 24 hours and car washes for 7 days after application. After that, wash every 2–4 weeks using a pH-neutral shampoo. Hand washing or touchless automatic washes are ideal — avoid brush-style automatic washes, which are the single biggest factor that degrades coatings prematurely. Clean bird droppings and bug splatter promptly.
